Voice Acting Training FAQs
How do I start voice acting?
The simple answer is to train either in a course or 1:1 with a coach who has experience as a director and/or established voice actor themselves. This is really important. The industry is a big learning curve and you want to work with someone who knows it inside out. You will benefit greatly by taking the time to absorb it.
Do I need acting experience to take voice acting classes? Do you teach beginners?
Great Big Voices works with beginners, experienced performers, and working actors who want to expand their voice-over skills. Classes and coaching are designed to help students build confidence, vocal range, character choices, and audition technique from their current level.
Are voice acting classes available online?
Yes. Classes are on Zoom. The quality of your voice acting training online is the same as it would be in person. I can promise you that. The result is the same: a trained voice that is ready for the industry. Once you get started in the industry, 99% of your auditions will be recorded from your home. It’s very helpful to get used to working online.
Great Big Voices offers online voice acting classes, private coaching, and demo training, along with select in-person opportunities in Los Angeles, Toronto, and NYC. Programs like Voice Acting for Soul Seekers combine professional voice-over training with a supportive online community where students learn, practice, collaborate, and grow together in a live group setting.

Yes. Great Big Voices helps students prepare for professional voice-over demos, including animation, commercial, and character voice-over work. Demo training focuses on showcasing each student’s strongest voices, performance choices, and readiness for agents or casting opportunities.
How long does it take to become a voice actor?
Every voice acting journey is unique, but with focused training, many students begin developing core voice-over skills and confidence within just a few months. Voice Acting for Soul Seekers is designed to provide a strong foundation in performance, creativity, vocal technique, and industry understanding through immersive group learning and coaching.
What ages do you work with?
